EarthVision
In 2008, the Santa Cruz Film Festival (SCFF) assumed operations of the EarthVision International Environmental Film Festival (EarthVision) and created a partnership to develop and co-present an expanded and juried environmental film section within the overall programming template of the SCFF.

This partnership seeks to further raise consciousness about environmental issues, educate people and mobilize support. The films shown instill concern for the issues they raise, and they seed enthusiasm for change in the audience. The festival encourages filmmakers to continue with their hard work while providing a venue in which they can witness their accomplishments being celebrated.
The films shown in the EarthVision Environmental Film section last year were the work of passionate individuals who have documented crucial environmental problems and the attempts of many to solve them. 2009's line-upincluded National Board of Review Documentary of the Year Winner, Crude, the inspiring Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai about Nobel Peace Prize Winner Wangari Maathai and Upstream Battle which traces the continuing fight of Native Americans to save the water rights in the Pacific Northwest.
The partnership has proven to be a success and we look forward to continuing EarthVision's tradition of presenting timely, cutting-edge environmental films.
