The Santa Cruz Film Festival May 5-13, 2005 is partnering with Cinemasports (the Iron Chef of Filmmaking) May 7, 2005 at The Attic at 831 Pacific Ave. in downtown Santa Cruz. Film making teams have 10 hours to complete a movie with a list of “ingredients” given to them at 9AM that morning and will screen their 4 minute films that evening. These ingredients will be used with teams from Sophia, Bulgaria; Frankfurt, Germany; London, UK and Paris, France. Screening of finished movies starts on the 10th hour - that very night. Movies made this morning screened tonight - hot and fresh.

Each city has contributed one ingredient which all of the participating country’s film making teams will use. International Cine indeed! That evening’s screening parades raw creativity by different filmmakers interpreting the same constraints. Filmmakers and actors can participate by signing up on website http://www.cinemasports.com. Come with a team or come alone and we’ll try to match you with one. There is no registration fee. Yes Free.

Screenings are $5 - $10 sliding scale and open to everyone.

San Francisco Magazine says: “Ten hours later, the results can be crazed, but fascinating...”

Challenge: Can teams complete a short movie before sundown that includes a lost lover, a blue marble, and plastic surgery?

Crisis Breeds Creativity: 3-Time Academy Award winner Walter Murch applauds Cinemasports results. (See “In the Press” www.cinemasports.com) Forced concessions become opportunities for new thinking. No other event promises screening before bedtime - over celebration cocktails!

Everyone Participates: Industry veterans and handycam prodigies juxtapose creations. Participants infect the audience with an exuberant buzz. Audience members arrive at the next event with camera in hand. A social movement is brewing. Cinemasports.
